The mother of pearl butterfly is common in most of the country. The butterfly requires warmth and lives in the dunes near the beach. The butterfly is golden with black spots on the top and orange with black spots and very clear, silvery mother-of-pearl spots on the underside – hence the name. The large-spotted mother-of-pearl butterfly is a lively butterfly. However, it often sits in the sun with widespread wings.
