Oarweed is a large, strong brown algae shaped like a long leather-like stem, and a leaf plate shaped like fingers or a palm top. The algae can be over 2 meters long and grow on rocks where it can attach the roots. The plant is used in the food industry, where it is part of the preparation of the thickener alginate.
Did you know that:
You used the algae as fertilizer in the old days, and you have also burned the plant and used the ashes in connection with the manufacture of glass and soap.
