Every year, more than 1,000 tonnes of waste are landed on Danish beaches – and it is only the tip of the iceberg, for more than two-thirds of the waste ends at the bottom of the sea. It is especially metal effects that fall to the bottom of course due to the weight, and the things we find at beaches in Denmark are typically cans and other metal containers that is filled with air.

There is no doubt that plastic is the biggest problem with very long breakdown times. But metal does not belong in the sea, although it is more rapidly degradable and without pollution during the decomposition process.

Did you know that:

It can take over 100 years to completely break down a metal capsule in the sea and degradation of an aluminum can can take up to 500 years.
