Tubular feathers is a green algae that is tubular and can grow up to 30 cm long. There are many species of this plant in Denmark, and they are often difficult to distinguish from each other. Tubular feathers are very common around the waterline on rocks, bulwarks and ships. The plant is very common in Denmark and grows where the plot consists of gravel or stone, both on the west coast and in the Baltic Sea.

This plant is gradually becoming a requested plant within health food, and there are companies, among others on Læsø (Denmark), which harvest and sell the plant rich in proteins and minerals. In Japan and Korea, the plant is grown commercially to a much greater extent.
