Solasteridae is a multifaceted starfish that can grow up to 25 cm. The starfish usually has 8 to 15 arms, but older individuals may have more. The colors can vary in shades over red, yellow and violet. There are two species in Denmark, Spiked Solasteridae and Rough Solasteridae, where the latter have slightly longer arms. Solasteridae is a predator that lives in the slightly deeper waters of mussel and oyster banks, where the pantry is the largest and where it most often attacks other starfish.
