We have several species of sharks in the Danish waters and some of them lay eggs, and it is often egg caps from the spotted red shark, that you find in the rinse on the beach. They are 5-6 cm and horny with coiled ropes in the corners. The threads are used to hold the egg firmly on creepers, which is not always successful, and they float into the beach. Development of a small new shark inside the egg takes 5-10 months.

Did you know that:

That the shark has a very rough skin, and that in the old days the skin was used as sandpaper.
